Getting Started for New TTU Students

Finding your username       Setting your password       Using inbox email       Using the PC Labs

Welcome to Information Technology Services at TTU.
Here are some tips to help you get started.

As a student, you have access to at least two different accounts.

  • your University PC Lab account which gives you access to inbox.tntech.edu email and over 30 campus labs with a variety of specialized software packages as well as access to iLearn, the online Library catalog and to ResNet in the residence halls.  If you are registered, have paid your fees and confirmed your registration via Eagle Online, then your account will be activated for Fall 2008 by August 22.  If you are having problems logging in at inbox.tntech.edu please email MailAdmin@tntech.edu

  • or call Operations from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at (931) 372-3388.
  • your Eagle Online (Banner Self Service) account for online access to your records allowing you to view grades, register, pay fees, etc. over the internet.

    • From the TTU homepage, locate the "Quick Links" drop down menu bar in the upper right corner. Scroll down and select "Eagle Online."

    • Login using your T Number as your User ID and your PIN as the password.

    • When you log in for the first time, you will need to set up the security question and answer option. You will use this option if you forget your PIN.

    • If you forget your PIN, enter your T# and click on FORGOT YOUR PIN. After answering your question correctly, you will have your PIN.

    • If you get the message YOUR LOGIN HAS BEEN BLOCKED, you need to contact the Registration Center (931-372-3966) or, after 4:30, contact Information Technology Services (931-372-3388).

    • If you change your PIN, DO NOT use all 9s.

Finding Your Username for Email and the PC Labs

  • Your username is usually your First and Middle initials, followed by up to 8 letters of your last name, followed by two digits.  For students beginning Fall 2008 it will usually be 42.

For example, Jane Q. Smithsonian's username would be:  jqsmithson42

  • (If you were readmitted from a term prior to Fall 2003, then it will usually be 31.)

  • To get your username, log into Eagle Online and under the Personal Information section select Campus Email address.  The part of your email address before the @ is your username.

Setting Your Password

Before you can use your email or iLearn account, you must change the password!  If you have successfully logged in via ResNet, then you have already reset your password.

  • Initially, the password to your inbox.tntech.edu email/PC Lab Account/iLearn is set to your TTU Banner ID (T number).
  • Decide on what you want your password to be.  Choose a password of 6 or more characters, using letters, digits, and special characters.  Your password is CASE SENSITIVE so whether a character is typed as a capital or small letter matters to the system. Be sure the CAPS lock is off.  Do not use common English words found in the dictionary. You could use the first letters of a phrase with some numbers, such as "I am here to Learn until # 2012!" which would make your password: iahtLu#2012!
  • Change your password here or do it as part of the first time you login into a PC Lab or to ResNet.
    • Enter your Username.
    • Enter your old password.  Initially this is your Tech Banner ID (T number)
    • Enter your new password in both the New Password and Confirm Password boxes.
    • Click the Change Now button.
  • If you have forgotten your password, to have it reset come to the Help Desk in Clement Hall 313 lab (open days and evenings - see lab schedule) or during regular office hours (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) come to the glass window--Clement Hall 226.

Using the PC Labs

Across campus there are over 30 University PC Labs which you can use.  Each student has their own PC Lab account and permanent disk space of 250 MB in the My Documents folder located on the U: drive.  Save your class work in My Documents (U: drive) so that you can come back to it and continue to work on it from any lab location or from homeFlash drives may fail, so be sure to use the My Documents folder in the PC labs (U: drive) for important work.  Backup all assignments to at least two places.

Keep your password secure; don’t give it to anyone else, or leave it where someone could see it.  You are responsible for your account.

You may change your PC Lab password at any time:

To logoff your PC lab account, double-click on the Windows Logoff icon on the desktop. Be sure that you have activated the logout and not just selected the icon without actually double clicking on it. If you do not logoff, someone else could use your account.
