Across campus
there are over 30 University PC Labs which you can use.
All faculty and all registered students
receive a University PC Lab Account. Staff who need a PC Lab account
should email
pclabaccounts@tntech.edu.
Each PC Lab
account includes permanent
disk space of 1 GB for faculty in the My Documents folder located on the U: drive
(centralized network storage for users) which you can access from any
lab location, your
office computer, or
home. Faculty
may request a class files or class drops
folder which allows students in the labs to access class material you place
there or to drop their assignments to you. These folders remain in place
unless you ask for them to be deleted, so you can use them from semester to
semester. Once a student drops material into a class drops folder, they
can no longer edit it, although they can "re-drop" an item and thus copy over
it. To transfer files from your office machine to these PC Labs folders,
see: Transferring Files
To reserve a University PC Lab for teaching a class for an entire semester,

Lab:
- Press: CTRL + ALT + DEL
- Type your User
Name (Same as for email)

your password has been set to your TTU ID Number (T Number).

You are required
to change your password at first logon.
- Click OK.
- In the password dialog box under
New Password:, type your new password.

In the PC Labs, your
password is CASE SENSITIVE so whether a character is typed as a capital
or small letter matters to the system. Be sure the CAPS lock is off.
Choose a password of 6 or more characters that you can easily remember, using
letters and digits. You could use the first letters of a phrase with some numbers, such as "My
dog Trixie had fleas but now She does not 08!" which would make your password:
MdThfbnSdn08! Your PC Lab password can be the same as your email password. Keep your password secure
as you are responsible
for your account.
Change Password
You
may change your PC Lab password:
If the server rejects your login, try again to be sure you
didnt make a typo. If you still cant logon or if you forget your password, go
to Clement Hall 226 (phone: 3388) and ask Operations (at the window) to reset your PC
Lab password.
Logout
From the Start menu, click on Log Off. Be sure that you have activated the logout and not just
selected the icon without actually double clicking on it. If you do not logoff, someone
else could use your account. After teaching a class, if you
see a screen where someone has forgotten to logoff, just do a favor and log them
off.
Teaching Lab Tips
If the Lab teaching station computer appears to totally "freeze", wait a few
moments to be sure it is not just hesitating due to network traffic.
- Press CTRL + ALT + DEL.
- Click on the Task Manager button.
- Under Applications, select the task that is not responding.
- Click on End Task.
This will close down that program and should "unfreeze" your computer.
If necessary, you can also:
- Press CTRL + ALT + DEL
- Click on the Shut Down button.
- Choose ¤ Shut down and Restart to totally shut
down and restart.
Rebooting the machine (turning it off and then on again) should reset
it, since the lab machines are using Deep Freeze which will reset the computer
after it is totally turned off and restarted.
