Meeting Minutes and Committee Reports

Kris and Sharon discussed advertisement and panel participation plans for
upcoming Policy forum on Nov 18, and plans for Spring Forum.

Regarding ad plans for the Fall Forum, a half-page ad in the Oracle costs $193, but we can get smaller ads.  The Exec Committee will decide via email whether or not to spend any money on an ad.

”Student classroom demeanor" is an issue Sharon would like
feedback on from faculty.  What kind of blanket policy
statement, or policy template, would be useful for faculty
members to include in their syllabus, including enforcement?  Sharon chairs a
committee on this for Academic Council.

For Spring Policy Forum, one suggestion is how TTU might think about
offering faculty/staff benefits above federal and state minimums, e.g., for
maternity leave, family leave, sick leave.  Kris Walker is open to other
suggestions, so feel free to mail them to her or Sharon.

Committee A is dealing with a complaint regarding lapses in administrative procedures for notification to faculty of alleged sexual harassment in the classroom against students.  This is not the first time this complaint of procedural lapse has arisen for Committee A.

Non-attendance at AAUP meetings is rampant; what is the cause?  What can be done about it?

Respectfully submitted,

Sharon G. Whitney, President TTU Chapter of AAUP

P.S.  The last meeting was not well attended because of computer distribution list problems, and a confusion regarding time and place.  From here on, if you see a 12 o’clock meeting on Friday on the Administrative Calendar, it really should read 12:20.  Most of our meetings are scheduled for RUC 342, but check the AAUP webpage calendar for updates.
