AAUP MINUTES
January 25, 2007
Members Present:
Agenda and Minutes from previous meeting were approved.
Old Business:
Kharif—Membership—We still have 58 members. He has sent two email messages to the
national AAUP office regarding the Spring Campaign [providing reduced
dues]. He has not received a response. He will try calling them instead. If he is unable to contact anyone in the
national office, he will check and see if the state AAUP can provide reduced
dues instead.
Jonakin—Treasurer’s Report—We have $2,295.88 and $274.91 in the business office account. He advised that we be careful with our spending in the future as we almost ran into a little trouble at the end of last year.
Kharif—We [the TTU chapter] only receive $5.00 from the dues each member pays, and that is only from those who use payroll deduction. We may want to raise dues slightly.
Programs—
A general discussion followed. Members decided to contact Fincher and see when he is available. Members also decided that we should invite the campus to attend. Some time in March or April would be best so that we can promote the event in the chapter’s newsletter. Osburn volunteered to contact Fincher.
Committee A—No Report
Committee R—No Report
Committee W—No Report
New Business:
Newsletter—Joy and Smith are going to obtain the chapter’s distribution list and will send out a call for articles for the newsletter. This will enable those members who are unable to attend meetings to have an opportunity to contribute to the newsletter.
Such other matters—A faculty member in the CAS sent Hinton an email concerning
the status of the search for a new Dean.
Hinton forwarded it to
Semmes—Eventually there has to be a search. Barker and
Meeting adjourned at 11:28 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
TTU AAUP Secretary
