seconded the motion. The agenda was
approved. Approval of the October 16, 2001Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to approve the October 16, 2001
minutes. Dr. Cho seconded the

as submitted. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Ms. Wheatley recognized Jerri Winningham.
Ms. Winningham discussed the changes in the TTU course numbers and the
required scores for CLEP credit. The
minimum score is 50 and the other scores that are higher represent the model
policy recommended by CLEP. She
noted that the footnotes (1) one to the testing requiring an essay in English
and footnote (2) two was added to indicate the exam for “Information Systems
and Computer Applications” must be taken prior to enrolling in any basic
engineering, decision science or computer science course. Also noted by Ms. Winningham, on the second page of the
attachment, English Lit should only have 3 hours instead of 6 hours.
On the third page, trigonometry math 1720 has been changed to
pre-calculus. The counseling center
has reviewed the information, and the department chairs have also reviewed the information.
Dr. Cho moved to accept the report with the corrections cited, seconded
by Glenn James. Dr. Loutzenheiser
asked for further clarification of foreign language scores.
Discussion ensued. Dr. Cho
pointed out that the report had been reviewed by the foreign language department
and approved. Mrs. Tolbert noted
that the letter attached to the CLEP tables explained more about the scaling. Dr. Loutzenheiser questioned whether TTU accepts CLEP scores
from transfer students based on transcripts or whether verification from the CL
EP board is required. Ms.
Winningham cited from the minutes of the A & C committee meeting of October
12, 1995 approving a statement that was supposed to be in the catalog which
approved Fresh Start students to be able to CLEP out of a class.
Yvonne Gribble was directed to check further.
Jerri Winningham asked how she was to get the information being discussed
out to the public. It was suggested
that a brochure be created and made available on the web-catalog. The motion to approve the report was approved. Election of a chairperson
Dr. Cho informed the committee that Ms. Wheatley agreed to serve another year. Dr. Cho moved that the nomination of Delores Wheatley be approved. Motion was seconded by Dr. Loutzenheiser and approved. Other matters
None raised. Glenn James motioned that the meeting be adjourned and Dr. Cho seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m. This page maintained by: Jerri
