The meeting was called to order at 3:10 p.m. Dr. Loutzenheiser suggested that the minutes of the October 25, 2005 minutes be clarified by highlighting the different paragraphs of the information presented to the committee. The acceptance of the minutes were voted upon and approved.
Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to approve the agenda and Dr. Liu seconded it. The motion was voted upon and the agenda was approved.
ESL Credit
Ms. Tolbert explained the proposal regarding the wording in the catalog as it pertains to ESL credit. The catalog should read ESL credit will count in the total degree hours, but will not meet any specific degree requirement and cannot be used for English, foreign language or General Education credit. The motion to accept the revised wording was voted upon and approved.
Dean’s List Eligibility
Ms. Yvonne Gribble, Records, opened discussion regarding eligibility for the Dean’s List. She suggested that the catalog wording be changed to read courses with grades of ‘S” will not be included in the determination of full-time status for Dean’s list honors. Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to approve the motion, and it was seconded by Dr. Gutkind. Further discussion followed. Dr. Gutkind pointed out that the present policy was especially difficult for student athletes. The motion was voted upon and approved.
There was a motion by Dr. Gutkind, seconded by Dr. Loutzenheiser that the wording be amended to read “Courses with grades of S/U are included in the determination of full-time status for Dean’s list honors”. The motion was approved.
Nominating Committee
The nominating committee for the Chair position of the Admissions & Credits Committee recommended the appointment of Julie Galloway for a second term for the 2006-2007 year. The motion was made, seconded and approved.
Lottery Appeals
Ms. Adrianne King introduced two Lottery Scholarship cases
for the Committee’s review.
