The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m. An addition to the minutes of the December 7, 2004 meeting was discussed, voted upon and approved.

Ms. Jared explained the current policy by which students are accepted into the nursing program. There followed discussion of the new policy for new students or transfer students as outlined below from Dr. Kim Hanna. Ms. Tolbert will take the matter up with the Academic Council.

The School of Nursing has approved new criteria for freshmen entering the university who wish to declare Nursing as a major. The new criteria would require students to obtain a high school GPA of 3.0 and a comprehensive ACT score of 20. Freshmen students who meet the new criteria can then declare Nursing as their major and subsequently be advised and managed by the School of Nursing faculty and Academic Advisor.

Freshmen students, who do not meet the criteria but still intend to pursue nursing as a major, will be advised to declare as a Pre-Health Professions Major. Pre-Health Professions Majors will be advised and managed by the advisor within the Student Success Center.

Students of any major are eligible to apply for admission to upper division nursing, contingent upon their completion of lower division credit requirements and compliance with upper division admission policy and procedures.

Dr. Loutzenheiser and Dr. Gutkind of the chairperson search committee nominated Julie Galloway for the 2005-2006 calendar year. The motion was seconded, and the vote carried.

Dr. Wade Faw asked for Other Business. There was no other business.

Dr. Faw thanked the committee for their service to the Admissions and Credits committee and to the University.

Dr. Loutzenheiser motioned that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Julie Galloway. The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 3:30 p.m.
