Introductions Dr. Wade Faw called the meeting to order at 3:05 p.m. followed by the introduction of new members. Approval of Minutes Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to approve the February 18, 2004 minutes. Jamie Mells seconded the motion and the committee voted to approve the minutes. Ms. Tolbert introduced the proposed changes in the existing admission policy in the school of nursing. Currently a student can transfer from another college to the school of nursing at TTU with a 2.0 QPA. She suggested that for students to be competitive and successful, the policy should be changed to a minimum of 2.5 QPA. Dr. Loutzenheiser moved to accept the revised policy, and Dr. Gutkind seconded it. The motion carried. Ms. Tolbert opened discussion regarding a change in the admission requirements for students with a GED. The advisability and advantages of aligning TTU’s requirements with the Tennessee Lottery requirements was discussed. It was moved by Julie Galloway that TTU raise the required GED admission score to 525. Jamie Mells seconded the motion. The motion carried. International student admissions have declined, advised Ms. Tolbert. In order to boost enrollment it was suggested that the committee consider new guidelines for international students. These may or may not include ACT/SAT test scores in view of the comprehensive testing that these students already experience. After much discussion it was agreed that the committee take some time for reflection on this matter. Ms. Tolbert shared some general information regarding a few exceptional student appeals which required no action. Dr. Idem moved for adjournment, seconded by Ms. Galloway. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m. This page maintained by: Jerri
