Approval of the agenda Dr. Cho moved to approve the agenda, and Dr. Loutzenheiser seconded the motion. The agenda was approved. Approval of the October 10, 2000 minutes Dr. Cho moved to approve the October 10, 2000 minutes, and Dr. Faw seconded the motion. The minutes were approved as submitted. Advanced placement credit for the International Baccalaureate diploma Ms. Wheatley recognized Prof. Tolbert. Prof. Tolbert stated that a request had come through asking if we the University would accept credit from this program. Prof. Tolbert explained that she thought a subcommittee needed to be formed to review the material available. Discussion was held by the committee. Dr. Cho suggested that Ms. Wheatley and Prof. Tolbert form a subcommittee to review. Further discussion was held by the committee. Ms. Wheatley and Prof. Tolbert agreed to form a subcommittee. Academic misconduct Ms. Wheatley recognized Prof. Tolbert. Prof. Tolbert read the following statement "Students accused of academic misconduct prior to the last date to drop a course may be unable to withdraw from the course." She explained a situation that took place this semester. A student was charged with academic misconduct by a faculty member. The faculty member notified Student Affairs. During this time, the student withdrew from the course following the regular schedule of dropping a class. Dr. Cho made the motion to approve the statement and Dr. Faw seconded the motion. Discussion was held by the committee. The motion was approved. This statement will be added to the next issue of the undergraduate catalog. A-100 guideline changes (AD Program) Ms. Wheatley recognized Prof. Tolbert. Prof. Tolbert explained that the A-100 guidelines are for the Academic Development Program. Prior to this semester if a student failed an ADP course, he/she was placed on academic probation. If the student failed the second attempt of the course, the student was suspended from the University. The guideline now simply states "There is no probation or suspension." Students must complete the ADP courses in their first sixty hours. These courses do not count for graduation but they do count toward retention. Discussion was held by the committee. No action needed to be taken by the committee. Election of the chairperson Ms. Wheatley recognized Dr. Groom who chaired the nominating committee. The committee nominated Ms. Delores Wheatley to serve as chair for the 2001-2002 academic year. Prof. Stearman moved that nominations cease. Dr. Cho made the motion to approve and Dr. Kozub seconded the motion. Ms. Wheatley was unanimously elected to serve as chairperson for the 2001-2002 academic year. The meeting was adjourned.
