- R. Dan
Fesler, Ph.D., CPA (inactive), received
an appointment in February 2007 to serve as Interim Chair of
the Accounting Department. Dr.
Fesler has had numerous articles
published, some of his most recent including “Circuit Court Rules
on Deductibility of Business Meals,” in Journal
of Accountancy (March 2007) with Lawrence
D. Maples; and “Accounting Employers
Win Big with Internships,” Today's
CPA (March 2007) with Charles W. Caldwell.

D. Maples, Ph.D., CPA (inactive), has had several
articles published recently, including “Pitfalls in Preserving
Net Operating Losses,” in
The CPA Journal (Mar.
2007); “Are Advance Trade Discounts Taxable?” in
Taxes (Jan. 2007); and,
with Charles W. Caldwell and Bob
G. Wood, Jr., “IRC Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges: Using
Tenancy-in-Common Interests as Replacement Property,” in The
CPA Journal (Jan. 2007).

Swanson, Ph.D., CPA (retired), continues
energetically in his global research. Current activities include
the Center for Philosophy, Technology, and Social Systems Annual
Working Conference, where Dr.
Swanson was a discussant in the
May 2007 conference held in Amsterdam , The Netherlands. In August
2007, Dr. Swanson was
a plenary speaker at the International
Society for the Systems Sciences Annual Meeting, and a discussant
at the Rendez Project Generative Conversation, both in Tokyo,
Japan. In October 2007 he was the keynote speaker at the IFIP
TC8 International Conference on Research and Practical Issues
of Enterprise Information Systems, in Beijing, China. In March
2008 Dr. Swanson will
be in Vienna, Austria at the European
Meeting on Cybernetics and Systems Research; and in April
2008 will be a discussant at the Fuschl Conversation on Systems
Organizations, in Fuschl, Austria.
- Recently appointed a tenure-track position,
Ms. Leigh G. Waggoner,
CPA, continues with the Department as Instructor in Accounting.
Ms. Waggoner also performs consulting work with the Companion
Financial Group in Cookeville.
