Programs
The department offers a modern, innovative
program that leads to a Bachelor’s of Science in Business
Administration Accounting Degree.
Our program integrates technology and traditional accounting knowledge.
Accounting graduates pursue careers in such areas as auditing,
taxation, and public accounting in business, government, or accounting
firms. Our accounting program is accredited by the Association
for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB),

B.S.B.A.
with Accounting Major
The B.S.B.A.
accounting program is structured on a firm base of liberal arts education
courses, a core area of business studies, and accounting specialization.
We seek to prepare students from culturally diverse backgrounds for accounting
and accounting related careers. In the degree, the Department
seeks to:
- Develop an analytical approach
to sound business decisions and the ability to effectively
communicate these decisions to other.
- Develop understanding and
appreciation of the social, ethical, legal, political, and
economic environment of business.
- Promote appreciation of the
civic and social obligations of business managers.
- Develop understanding and
appreciation of business in its international context.
- Equip students to respond
to the demands of accounting and business in a changing technological
environment.
- Develop a professional attitude
and provide the foundation for professional competence in accounting
- Additionally, the department
provides support for the Accounting concentration in the Distance-MBA
Program.
MBA
with Accounting Concentration
The purpose
of the M.B.A. degree is to offer a professional program preparing graduate
students from diverse backgrounds for rewarding careers in organizations.
The core area of business studies is broad in scope for the purpose of
developing general managerial competence through extensive use of the case
method and selected use of other pedagogies such as simulations and research
projects. An emphasis in accounting, through 12 hours of online graduate
course work, develops special competencies for students interested in accounting
and accounting related careers. In the degree, the Department seeks
to:
- Develop a high level of confidence
that will allow the student to cope with uncertainty and to
make decisions in an increasingly complex and global business
environment.
- Develop an awareness and appreciation
of the legal, ethical, social, political, and economic environments
of business.
- Develop essential competence
in administration, as well as an understanding of the administrative
and accounting processes.
- Develop a high level of skill
in problem analysis and decision making.
- Provide sufficient accounting
competency to make positive contributions to an organization
- Equip students to recognize
and respond to the demands of changing technology within the
business context.
Online Accounting Career Education
The department offers 18 credit hours of upper-division
accounting totally online. These
online courses provide working professionals a vehicle to train
for, and enter the accounting field. These
courses are also a convenient way for undergraduate students to
meet their university’s requirements for a degree in accounting.
