Approval of the Constitution of The Eclectic Society of Tennessee
Technological University - Mr. Boucher
Mr. Boucher MOVED approval of the Constitution of The Eclectic Society of
Tennessee Technological University with Mr. Dickson SECONDING. Mr. Boucher
said the purpose of The Eclectic Society is to provide an outlet for Gay,
Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) and gay supportive individuals to
discuss various related issues. A question was asked if this is part of a
national organization. Mr. Boucher said it is not part of a national
organization but is unique to Tennessee Tech. A friendly amendment was made
to Article IV: B to change the wording from "Any member of The Eclectic
Society may be elected to office, provided that the member intends to be a
student of TTU for the duration of the Fall and Spring semesters" to "Any
member of The Eclectic Society may be elected to office, provided that the
member will be a student of TTU for the duration of the Fall and Spring
semesters." A friendly amendment was also made to add the description of
the officers of The Eclectic Society as part of Article IV. A. Mr. Boucher
handed out copies of the description of the officers and said this will be
included as part of Article IV.A. It was also pointed out that the word
"tolerance" should be substituted for "toleration" in Article VIII.D. Dr.
Kemp MOVED that the question be called. MOTION CARRIED.
Change in Procedures on Commission on the Status of Women - Colleen Hays
Ms. Hays said the Commission on the Status of Women requests that the
Administrative Council reconsider the change in procedures which were voted on
at the November 1, 2000 meeting. The Commission requests that the Coordinator
of the Curriculum Committee for the Women and Gender Studies Program be an
exofficio voting member of the Commission. Dr. Whitney MOVED approval of the
request with Mr. Tudor SECONDING. The Motion is rescinding action taken at
the November 1, 2000 meeting. MOTION CARRIED.
