Dr. Schrader MOVED approval of the minutes with Dr. Narrie SECONDING.
MOTION CARRIED.
Inclement Weather Policy
Dr. Ballal MOVED approval of the Inclement Weather Policy with Mr.
Boucher SECONDING. Dr. Schrader recommended that we not have an
inclement weather policy and expressed his opinion that a policy would
encourage more closing. Dr. Ballal said he has been at Tennessee Tech
since December, 1964 and concurs with Dr. Schrader to not have an
inclement weather policy. He suggested that everyone vote against it.
Dr. Narrie reminded everyone that 1964 and 1996 are thirty-two years
apart. Dr. McGee said that times have changed and we have more commuter
students so he supports the position that Dr. Narrie has taken. He asked
Ms. Maxwell to clarify the last sentence on page 1 "Employees who are
not scheduled to work will not be paid for the emergency closing." Ms.
Maxwell said it means if someone is on leave that they will be using
leave. He also said the procedure for notifying people that the campus
is closed looks good except he wondered if the Vice President of Student
Affairs should be earlier in the process since that office will be one
of the first contacted. Ms. Maxwell said the Vice President of Student
Services would not have anything to report about closing until the other
vice presidents were contacted. The MOTION CARRIED to accept the
Inclement Weather Policy.

Dr. Barker attended on September 23.
