Welcome to Tennessee Tech! Making education accessible is an important part of our mission at the university. Below you will find resources to help you through your transition from the community college classroom or other college to a university and on the pathway to earning your bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Tech.
Submit an application
The quickest and easiest way to apply is by using our online application. At the end of the application, you can simply submit the $25 non-refundable application fee by using a credit card. (If you have ever paid the undergraduate application fee to TTU before, you do not need to do so again.) If you wish to not pay with a credit card, you can mail us a check or money order for the $25 application fee to the address below.
To accurately evaluate you for admissibility, you will need to submit official transcripts from your diploma-granting high school or GED and all colleges in which you were ever enrolled (including transcripts from dual-credit courses and/or AP exams). Failure to notify Tennessee Tech University of all previous post-secondary coursework is a Class A misdemeanor according to TCA 49-7-133. If you have less than 24 transferrable college-level hours we may also need recent ACT/SAT scores (or COMPASS scores if over 21 with no recent college-level math, English, and reading courses). For those that are currently enrolled in college, we can sometimes make a pending decision while you are enrolled in your last semester.
Hand-delivered transcripts, transcripts addressed to the student or marked "Issued to Student" or faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official for admission purposes. To be considered as "official transcripts", they must be mailed via US Postal Mail directly from the institution. Transcripts from institutions not residing in the U.S. must have coursework evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org. A course by course evaluation is required for any transfer credit to be awarded.

Students with more than 24 hours of college-level transfer credit taken after high school are not required to attend an orientation and can simply contact their academic department to register for classes.
2 + 2 Applicants
The TTU College of Education offers its Elementary Education Licensure program on the campuses of Pellissippi State (Hardin Valley), Roane State (Crossville, Harriman, Oak Ridge, and Scott County), Motlow (McMinnville and Moore County) and Chattanooga State. When the time comes to join a TTU cohort you'll need to apply BOTH to TTU and the Teacher Education Program.
On your admissions application, be sure to indicate the campus at which you would like to participate in the "For 2+2 Education students" in the "Additional Information" area. The major that you will need to select is "Multidisciplinary Studies" with a concentration in "Elementary Education".
Be sure to complete the application procedure for Teacher Education as well. Their application deadline for each Fall cohort is January 31. Since you'll be enrolled in TTU's classes you'll also need to complete the first two forms listed here: www.tntech.edu/healthservices/forms/. A "transfer" student is one who has completed twenty-four college-level, transferable semester hours of degree credit or the equivalent at another college (or other colleges) AFTER high school graduation. If you are not transferring this amount of credit then you will be evaluated with a fitting combination of freshman and transfer admission requirements.
All students graduating since 1989 will need to show proof of passing at least 12 of the 14 core academic units or completing a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
- 2.00 in last full-time semester (or last 12 hours for part-time students) AND
- 2.00 overall GPA (includes all previous coursework (except developmental courses) at all institutions)
An applicant under disciplinary suspension or probation will not be considered for admission until a satisfactory statement has been furnished by the former college and approval given by the Admissions Review Committee of Tennessee Technological University.
Additional Requirements for Certain Programs
A few programs at Tennessee Tech have additional admission requirements for admission. If a student meets the general admission requirements, but not the requirements specific this program, they will be admitted to the Student Success Program (also known as General Curriculum or General Health Studies). Again, these additional requirements only affect which academic advisor you have, not which classes you will take.
2 + 2 Applicants
Students who are participating in the 2+2 Program through the Office of Teacher Education will also need to meet admission requirements for this department.
What if I Don't Meet the Minimum Requirements for Admission?
Students who do not meet all of the requirements listed above may submit a letter to the Admissions Review Committee explaining their circumstances. These situations will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

These costs for in-state students taking 15 or more credit hours per semester and are comprised of the direct annual costs of attending Tennessee Tech University. Some courses may require additional fees.

Tennessee Transfer Pathways
Students who wish to transfer from another institution under the Tennessee Transfer Pathway can do so without the worry of credits not transferring over. With this program, students are guaranteed admissions and guaranteed to have credits transferred over to Tennessee Tech from a previous community college. Tennessee Transfer Pathways:
- earns an associate's degree
- guarantees admission to Tennessee Tech University
- guarantees your credit will transfer
There are provisions that apply to these pathways. The pathways must be followed precisely and admission to certain programs (e.g. Nursing and Education Licensure programs) is not guaranteed. Find our more at www.tntransferpathway.org. Certain programs have various exceptions listed in the "additional information" area under the specific University pathway. Not all majors are covered under the pathways therefore course by course equivalencies can be found at www.tntech.edu/transfer.
