Bryant, Debra
D.: ADP Math Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dev. Mathematics
- Dr. Debra Bryant teaches all levels of DSP mathematics. As Mathematics
Coordinator, she is responsible for interviewing prospective adjunct
mathematics faculty
members and mathematics tutors. She is also responsible, along with the
Program Director, for supervising adjunct mathematics faculty. Dr. Bryant has been associated with Tennessee Tech since 1970
as either a student or employee. She received a BS in Secondary Education from
TTU and is certified to teach mathematics, biology, earth sciences, chemistry,
and physics. Her MA, also from TTU, is in Curriculum and Instruction. She has
completed a doctorate in Mathematics Education
at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She has presented at NADE, TNADE
and TTU. Her major curriculum interests include a dedication to
effectively implementing the NCTM and AMATYC Standards in the developmental
mathematics classroom.

Harden, Pamela: Assist. Professor, Developmental Mathematics
- Pamela Harden, Assoc. Professor of Mathematics, is currently teaching
DSPM0800 and DSPM0850. Dr. Harden is a TTU alumna with a BS in Secondary Education Mathematics
and an MA in Secondary Education. She also has a Masters in Mathematics
Education from UT Knoxville and has completed an Educational Doctorate in that
field. Dr. Harden enjoys teaching math at all levels, including College
Algebra, Business Calculus, and Elementary Statistics.

- Ann Jared Lewald, Instructor of Writing, has been a member of the Academic
Development Program faculty since the program's inception in 1985. She teaches DSPW0800 Developmental
Writing and an occasional
class of English 1010 or 1020 for the English Department and ESL 1020. She is an accomplished
poet [see her work in Hurricane Blues: Poems about Katrina and Rita],
a co-author of Developing College Writing Skills: with Stylebook and Learning
Strategies, and a member of the editorial board of Tennessee
Tech's Under the Sun. She is a member of NADE (National Association of Developmental
Educators) and its state equivalent, TNADE.

Whiteaker, Janet:
Assistant Professor, Academic Development Program Coordinator
- Janet Whiteaker, Assistant Professor of Writing, has been a member of the
Academic Development Program faculty since the program's inception in 1985. A
certified Specialist in Developmental Education, she teaches DSPW0800
Developmental Writing, as well as an occasional Expository Writing class in the
English Department. She also maintains computer data for the program and works
with placement of students. She is co-author of Developing College Skills
in Writing (in its third edition) and author of the Writer's
Stylebook, (which
is in its fourth edition). The 4th edition of the course textbooks is due out
for Fall 2004. The two writing texts have been combined into one under the
title Developing College Writing Skills: with Stylebook and Learning
Strategies. She has poems anthologized in four different
poetry collections and enjoys writing fiction as well. Her novel, Ariana,
was published in 2003; Wolf Canyon was published in 2005. Professor Whiteaker is a member of NADE
(National Association of Developmental Educators) and its state equivalent,
TNADE. She is also a member AHEAD (Association on Higher Education and
Disability), TN-AHEAD, NEA (National Education Association), TEA, AAUP (American Association of University Professors),
MLA (Modern
Language Association), NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English),
Tennessee Writers Alliance, Council of Writing Program Administrators, The
National Writers Association, International Society of Poets, Alliance for Computers and Writing, Mid-Tenn
FUSE (FOCUS users association), NCLCA (National College Learning Center
Association), AAR (American Academy of Religion), SBL (Society of Biblical
Literature), and Church of Christ (Willow Avenue Congregation).
