Agricultural Foundation
The Agricultural Foundation for Tennessee Tech, Inc. (hereafter,
referred to as Ag Foundation) was established in 1971, with the Constitution
and By-Laws (PDF) approved on October 5 of that year.
Revisions were made and approved on October 5, 1996. A charter
of incorporation was received from the State of Tennessee and a
certificate was received from the Internal Revenue Service designating
the Foundation as a tax-exempt organization. The Ag Foundation
exists for the principal purpose of providing support for the School
of Agriculture at Tennessee Tech (see purposes at the Constitution
and By-Laws link).
The first donation received by the Ag Foundation was $1000 contributed, in
equal amounts, by the three banks in Cookeville, Tenn. — The Bank of
Cookeville, the Citizens Bank, and the First National Bank. Soon after receiving
this contribution, the Board of Directors established Money
Management Policies(PDF) which were approved by the Board on
January 21, 1988 and revised on March 6, 1998.
Ag Foundation Officers (PDF)
consist of Executive Director, President, Vice President, Treasurer,
and Ex-Officio (always the dean of the College of Agriculture and
Human Ecology). The Board
of Directors (PDF) consists of 15 members who are
elected for 3-year terms. Five new Board members are elected each
year.
Mr. Clarence Richards has honorably served the Ag Foundation as
the Executive Director. In the Fall of 2005, Mr. Richards tendered
his resignation due to health problems. He will be sorely missed
by all involved. Mr. Jimmy Allen has agreed to serve as the new
Executive Director.
The Current Budget (PDF)
shows that most funds each year are used to support agriculture
students with scholarships, but other funds are designated for
student awards, academic teams, student recruitment, Ambassadors
recruiting and public relations team, and reception for graduating
seniors.
