Welcome to TTU’s School of
Agriculture
Message from the Director
Welcome to the School of Agriculture
at Tennessee Tech. We offer students an opportunity to earn
a B.S. in Agriculture in a program that is large enough and
diverse enough to meet their needs on a friendly campus where
students and faculty members work together to learn about the
exciting world of agriculture. The friendly atmosphere helps
students quickly feel at home and focus their efforts on learning.
Students studying in the School of
Agriculture can choose from among a wide range of concentrations
in preparation for diverse and exciting careers. Upon receipt
of their degrees they are prepared to enter many exciting careers
in agriculture or agriculturally related fields, or they may
choose to pursue graduate degrees or continue studying for a
professional degree. Past graduates can be found in positions
as varied as veterinarians, park rangers, golf course superintendents,
government officials, business owners, county agents, conservationists,
university professors, military officers, high school teachers,
consultants, agricultural product or equipment sales, bankers,
farm managers, herdsmen, and many others.
The academic program is supported
by our farms, horticultural greenhouses, and the Hyder-Burks
Pavilion. These facilities offer many opportunities for students
to gain hands-on experience. Faculty offices, classrooms and
laboratories, including a modern computer lab, are located in
South Hall, making it convenient for students to interact with
other agriculture students in their daily routines.
The School of Agriculture is able
to offer a number of scholarships to incoming students as well
as to students already enrolled in the program. Application
for scholarships can be done online by clicking on the agriculture
scholarship page when applying for university scholarships.
Student clubs and organizations
in agriculture offer opportunities for social interaction, leadership
development and professional interactions. Most are oriented
toward students in a particular concentration but are open to
students from other study areas. Be sure to check out the student
clubs when you become a student in the School of Agriculture.
Prospective students, graduates of
our program and others interested in learning more about our
program are welcome to come by our main office to meet our faculty
and staff, see our facilities and ask questions in person. We
suggest that you contact us in advance, when possible, to help
us make your visit more fruitful, but we will do our best to
accommodate your needs at any time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Wade Faw
