| Description - The State
of Tennessee established the Minority Teaching Fellows Programs to encourage
talented minority Tennesseans to enter the teaching field. The award is
for $5,000 per year to a maximum of $20,000 to pursue teacher licensure.
Those who receive the award incur an obligation to teach at K-12 level
in a Tennessee public school one year for each year the award is received.
Subject to funding, thirty such awards are available each year.
Recipients -
- Applicant must be a minority Tennessee Resident
- A citizen of the United States and attend a Tennessee University
- high school applicant must have a GPA of at least2.75 and a ACT score
of 18
- College applicants must have at least a 2.5 college cumulative GPA
Application Requirements - Applications are available
in the dean's office in the College of Education (T.J. Farr, Rm 100) beginning
in January each year.
