Veterinary Pharmaceutical Salesman
This is my first year serving on the Board of Trustees.
My favorite part of TTU is the close-knit community of the campus… students and faculty. All TTU administration and staff, from President Oldham on, have time for parents and kids alike, and are genuinely concerned about their welfare, progress, and happiness.
I chose to serve on the board of trustees because I want to do anything I can to help and give back to TTU and help make TTU a great place for my kid and generations to come. TTU did so much for me and my career. I just want to pay it forward.
TTUPA is important to TTU because is a great organization to keep parents involved, and kids knowing that they have “another set of eyes” on them, and is there to help them. The TTUPA also give parents this same security that that someone else is helping to look after their kids and are keeping them in the loop on things. Also the TTUPA is a great liaison for the TTU staff and administration for checks and balances for student life. I don’t think it is a problem at TTU, but sometimes a University can become too bureaucratic and academic to serve the needs of their students.
I see the TTUPA in next 5 to 10 years really continuing to form the pyramid between Students, parents, and the University to create successful TTU graduates, useful citizens and a stronger University; and continuing to grow in numbers and strength and status.
I currently have one child at TTU majoring in engineering. I also have one attending in the Fall of 2013.
One of the struggles that parents face with college students is missing their kids and worrying that they are safe, eating and sleeping well and acting responsibly on their own.
My advice to other parents of college students is to stay involved with your kids and their friends!!!! Communicate!!! Support their activities! Go! Go! Go!
