Important Information Regarding Student Accounts

Parents of Tennessee Technological Universtiy students should be aware of the following important points:

1) The univeristy is bound by state and federal laws that mandate certain privacy rights to each student. Therefore, only public information can be discussed with anyone other than the student. For instance, we can not discuss amounts owed, student's schedules, etc. unless we have signed statement from the student giving us permission to do so.

2) If anyone other than the student is responsible for paying the fees, he or she needs to obtain the student's personal access code and that will allow the responsible party complete access to the student's account on the web. It is the student's option to share this PIN with parents, grandparents, etc. Otherwise, we cannot divulge any nonpublic information. Even when someone other than the student is paying the bill, it is still the student's responsibilty to make sure everthing is settled by the deadline.

3) Anytime a student's account has a credit balance from an overpayment, the refund check will always be issued to the student regardless of the source of payment (parent, grandparent, friend, etc).
