Laser Printing Services

Guidelines For Use | General Procedures
Printing from PC Applications | Printing from VMS | Getting Help

Laser printing services are available from PCs in the computer labs maintained by the Computer Center and from node Gemini.

Guidelines for Use

Documents directly related to coursework or scholarly research (which require laser output) and resumes may be printed. Examples of acceptable documents include: You should print only one copy of a particular document and take it to a photocopy machine if you need additional copies. The laser printer is not to be used as a photocopier.

General Procedures

Laser printing is available on Gemini, and from the PCs in Clement Hall 313, Clement Hall 215, Brown Hall 207, Henderson Hall 111, and the Library Media Center 113.

When you print from a PC application, such as Word or Excel, your laser printout will automatically go to the laser printer in the lab where you are located. When you print from Gemini, your laser printout will go to the location you specify (see specific instructions below).

In order to pick up your printout, you must present your valid TTU ID card. No documents will be printed without a valid ID. Unclaimed documents will be discarded after 48 hours.

Printing from PC Applications

To print from a Windows application in one of the Computer Center labs, select File - Print Setup from within your chosen application, such as Word or Excel. Choose the HP LaserJet IIIsi or the HP LaserJet IIIsi PostScript, then click OK.

Please remember that your output will automatically be directed to the laser printer in the lab where you are. For the PCs in CH215, the output will be directed to the Operations Window in CH226.

Printing from VMS on Gemini

To print from node Gemini, use the following command:

print/queue=queuename filename.extension

Where queuename is one of the laser printer queues and filename.extension is the file you wish to print. The names of the queues refer to their specific location:

     laser_bn207 Brown Hall 207
laser_ch226 Clement Hall 226 Operations Window
     laser_ch313 Clement Hall 313
     laser_hh111 Henderson Hall 111
     laser_lm113 Library Media Center

Your printout can only be picked up from the location to which it was submitted.

You may also submit your print job with an additional parameter:

/form=ps Specifies that the file you are sending to print is a PostScript file

Sample commands:

     print/queue=laser_bn207/form=ps sample.ps
     print/queue=laser_ch226 finalreport.txt
