Hardware Requirements

   For a Windows System:

   For a Macintosh System:

Minumum Requirements for Network Compatibility

  • PowerMac, Quadra, or Centris
  • 16MB RAM
  • 100MB free hard disk space
  • System 7.5 or greater
  • 10Mbs Ethernet Card (either built-in or an add-on card) with RJ45 Connector
Recommendation for New Purchases

Ethernet Adapters

Each system must have an Ethernet adapter in order to connect to the network. It should be a 10Mbps Ethernet adapter (either built-in or an add-on card) with an RJ45 connector.
PC Ethernet Adapter
PC Card (for Laptops)

   Recommended Ethernet adapters for PC systems:

  • 3Com EtherLink 3C509B
  • SMC EtherEZ 8416T

   Recommended brands of Ethernet adapters for Laptops:

  • 3Com
  • SMC
  • XirCom

   Recommended Ethernet adapters for Macintosh systems:

  • For Macintosh computers bought after 1994 there will most likely be an Ethernet Adapter built-in
  • For earlier Macintosh computers it depends on the model, please call for assistance.

Software

In order to connect to the Internet your computer will need to have the necessary software programs. If your computer already is configured with these programs, it will most likely work, but may need some configuration settings changed. If you do not have the necessary software, it can be provided.
