Tech Freshmen explore Chemical Engineering concepts with Rube Goldberg machines
Rube Goldberg machines are elaborate devices that use a chain reaction of events to complete a simple task. Popular in cartoons, they are uncommon in real life. Teams of freshmen worked all semester to design them.
“Engineers love to build,” said Holly Stretz, TTU chemical engineering professor. “Real-world problem solving starts by recognizing that the things you have already experienced in life can be useful for some new function, and engineering and science teaches you to look at the world around you in whole new ways.”

Top of the Class: Lindsey Reed named Tech's NCAA Woman of the Year
"She embodied what it meant to give back," said Coach Daniel Brizard.
"These last four years have taught me dedicaiton," Reed said.
Lindsey showed that with one of the toughest degrees you can get at this school that you can have the balance by being successful on the soccerfield.
MoLE-SI TM
Chemical Engineering is working in the implemenation of MoLE-SITM(Mobile Learning Environment and Systems Infrastructure). MoLE-S will allow students to use on-demand engineering software anywhere using portable devices as specified by the minimum requirements (see flyer below) provided there is internet connectivity.
