Presently the Department of Chemistry has 19 Ph.D. faculty members. These positions are evenly distributed among the major disciplines of chemistry. On the undergraduate level the Department offers the B.S. Chemistry Degree in four available concentrations; (1) ACS-certified B.S. in chemistry, (2) the ACS-certified B.S. degree with emphasis in environmental chemistry, (3) Applied chemistry (now includes 6 options), and (4) a concentration in Biochemistry. On the graduate level the Department offers the M.S. degree in chemistry and the Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences. The general chemistry program at Tech enrolls over 700 campus-wide students in the Fall semester. We currently have approximately 100 chemistry majors. This academic year 34 students matriculated from our program with the B.S. degree in chemistry, eight of which received ACS certified degrees. In addition, four students received the M.S. degree, and in August, 2008, two additional students received the Ph.D.
