    Stay Connected
The quarterly College of Business newsletter
    March 2006

Greetings from the College of Business!

We are excited already about the new year here on campus and wanted to share some of our stories with you. For some time, we have been looking for a way that our alumni might assist in the professional development of our students. Please read about the new Alumni Mentoring Program described in this issue of Stay Connected and join this effort if at all possible. I know you'll receive a tremendous return personally from this program as you see the difference you make in our students' lives.

We thank you for your continued support of the college. If you are considering a financial gift for the college, you may now make that donation online through our secure website. If you have any questions about the college, please feel free to contact me at any time!

    Bob Niebuhr, Dean

TTU begins new alumni mentoring program

TTU is now providing a service to connect TTU alumni to current students. The Online Career Network was established as a result of interest from our students in seeking out alumni for career advice and direction. Students have reflected a growing interest in getting in touch with alumni. The Online Career Network provides that connection – via a web based service.

    Visiting Executive
Jimmy Bedford visits campus as a Distinguished Lecturer

Since 1882, when Jack Daniel took sole ownership of the distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, there have been only six Master Distillers for the firm. Tennessee Tech grad Jimmy Bedford has been in that role since 1988, after serving more than 20 years in the Jack Daniel Distillery operations. Jimmy not only performs his duties as Master Distiller for the oldest registered distillery in the United States, he now travels world-wide as its corporate spokesman, talking about the product and the process of making Tennessee whiskey.
