Faculty, Staff, and Student Awards
- Our Distance MBA program was ranked as one of the "Top 21 Best Values" in the country, according to GetEducated.com in its latest release of top Online MBA Degrees – AACSB Accredited. In addition, the College was listed in Princeton’s Review’s 2010 “Best 301 Business Schools.”
- Tyler Hodge, the Mayberry Graduate Assistant, serves on the 2010 Board of Examiners of the Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence (TNCPE). In April 2010, he attended the Quest for Excellence conference in Washington D.C.
- Business student Alston Peek was crowned the 2009 Homecoming King.
- In fall of 2009, TTU accounting senior Rachel Randles was recognized as the top accounting student in Tennessee by the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).
- Thirty undergraduate students were recognized as having a perfect 4.0 GPA at our annual Scholarships and Awards Banquet.
- Dr. Ferdinand DiFurio was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Excellence in Research Award.
- Lelia Gibson was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Outstanding Staff Award.
- Lelia Gibson was named the state recipient of the 2010 Virginia Lindsey Leadership Award by the Tennessee Lions Clubs Association. The award is given each year to a Lion under the age of 40 who has been in Lions less than eight years. The selection is based on the person’s service to Lions Club, service to the church and community, and his/her overall conduct in the everyday world and his/her community. The person must have a well-defined sense of mission and purpose and be service oriented.
- Dr. Tor Guimaraes was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Excellence in Overall Performance Award.
- Dr. Deryl Martin was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Curtis Kinslow Award for Excellence in Teaching.
- Dr. Christine Miller was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Excellence in Service Award.
- Dr. Richard Rand was named the recipient of the 2009-2010 College of Business’ Assurance of Learning (AoL) Award.
- At the 2010 Adult High School graduation Dr. H. Bruce Throckmorton received the Burks Award for his contributions to adult education. It is given by the Burks family and was presented to him by County Executive Kim Burks Blaylock.
- Beta Alpha Psi (BAP), the accounting honor society, achieved "superior" status.
- TTU accounting graduate Valdimir Haralambiev earned the top CPA exam score in the state of Tennessee.
- The 2009 Louis Johnson Alumnus Award was presented to Virginia Plummer, and the 2009 Outstanding Business Leadership Award was given to Garry Floeter.
