Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a short list of common questions regarding University Convocation. If you don't find the answer here, then let us know by using the "Contact Us" form or contact the Office of Orientation and Student Success at (931) 372-3245.
When is Convocation?
2013 University Convocation is on Friday, August 23 at 3PM CST in the Hooper Eblen Center at Tennesssee Tech.
Who is required to participate?
All new first year freshman students are encouraged to participate in this unique ceremony. Regular reminders will be sent to new students and families the week prior to the ceremony.
What is the proper attire?
We ask that new first year freshman students wear the purple "2013 Week of Welcome" shirt provided to them at SOAR. All other guests can attend in casual attire.
What is proper etiquette while in attendance?
We sincerely request your attention and respect for the ceremony. All of the students have worked very hard to reach this point in their academic career, and we ask that you follow the precepts described during the ceremony.
*A note about celebrating --- please do not bring "silly string" products to the ceremony. Chemicals in these products can damage the flooring in the Hooper Eblen Center and are costly to replace.
What about parking?
General parking will be available in the large commuter lots to the east of the Hooper Eblen Center. However, tickets will be given if you are not in a legal parking space (ie grass, street, fire lanes, etc.). Click here for a printable version of the campus map.
Are there accommodations for persons with disabilities?
Is there a vistors guide for the Cookeville area?
A visitors guide where places to see, dine, and sleep is available at MustSeeCookeville.com/.
