| Welcome
from the Chair
Dr. Michael Rohr
Welcome to the Department of Counseling & Psychology. We are
committed to the success of our students throughout their educational
process. Our program has been developed by using the highest professional
standards and continually strives to exemplify all ethical and
professional standards. We believe that our knowledgeable faculty
and staff will challenge students to reach their full potential.
We also believe these skills will be developed to facilitate life-long
learning.
The Department of Counseling & Psychology administers the
undergraduate degree in psychology, as well as graduate degrees
in educational psychology, and counselor education.
The undergraduate psychology program prepares students for graduate
training in psychology, counseling or related fields. A primary
mission of this program is to provide a well-rounded education
that would promote and facilitate entry into applied areas of psychology.
Our program of study emphasizes a strong research component. Additionally,
students are afforded opportunities to explore interests in specialized
areas of psychology using guided electives and applied research
opportunities.
The graduate program offers the Masters of Arts and Specialist
in Education degrees in educational psychology, school psychology,
agency counseling, mental health counseling and school counseling.
The majority of our graduate courses are offered in the evening
and at night to accommodate students currently employed in educational
or professional settings. Completion of the programs of study prepares
students for licensure in their respective areas. Descriptions
of various programs of study
(PDF) are
provided on our web site.
Our department is composed of faculty from diverse backgrounds who attempt to embrace acceptance of a broad range of personal viewpoints, as well as theories of psychology and counseling. We believe that our greatest strength is our commitment to students and assisting them in meeting their educational goals. Thus, we believe students in our programs are afforded the special opportunity to work in collaboration with faculty to accomplish their educational goals.
If you are interested in pursuit of a major in our department,
we invite you to come by and visit or contact us by phone or e-mail
for further information.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael Rohr, Chair |
