E-Week is Coming!

Back in 1951, the National Society of Professional Engineers got the idea of marking the accomplishments of engineers and engineering students by setting up National Engineers’ Week. The NSPE was inspired by George Washington, long considered the nation’s first working engineer, and set the date for E-Week to coincide with Washington’s birthday.

Today, over 70 engineering schools and societies celebrate E-Week, including Tennessee Tech’s College of Engineering.

“We celebrate Engineers Week every year by way of bringing attention to the accomplishments and contributions of engineers,” said Joseph Rencis, dean of the College of Engineering. “It’s an engineer’s mission to make the world better for society by solving technological and social problems, and that’s what we want to spotlight during Engineers Week.”
