The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Tennessee Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level in Computer Engineering beginning in August 2008. This position includes an initial appointment as a Stonecipher Faculty Fellow in Computer Engineering. Candidates for this position must have an earned Ph.D. degree in computer engineering or closely related areas with at least one degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience after the Ph.D is required for applicants for associate professorship. Expertise is required in computer engineering areas such as computer networks, parallel and distributed systems, sensor networks and/or computer security. The successful applicants must have a distinguished research and publication record as well as demonstrated leadership ability in developing externally funded research, ability for excellent teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, potential to develop graduate/undergraduate courses in computer engineering, and effective communication skills. Some relevant teaching/industrial experience and potential to develop collaborative research are desirable.
The ECE Department, with about 350 undergraduate, 50 M.S. and 20 Ph.D. students and 18 faculty members, provides an exciting environment for educators to grow and excel in their profession. Three Research Centers of Excellence within the College of Engineering support and promote faculty and graduate student research of about $10M annually.
