Substitutions

This page contains information about substitutions within the ECE Department. For information about transfer credit and courses taken elsewhere see the transfer students and transfer credit page.

The following substitutions have been approved by the ECE Faculty.

General Substitutions

ENGR 1020: UNIV 1020, a UNIV 1020 equivalent course, or HON 1010 will substitute for ENGR 1020. (Transfer students: many substitutions are possible; contact the ECE transfer student advisor for details.)

Substitutions Related to Course and Curriculum Changes

Note: Double arrow (⇔) indicates substitution either way. Single arrow (→) indicates one-way substitution, that is A→B means A substitutes for B, for example if you take course A it will substitute for course B in the curriculum.

All (EE and CmpE):

  • ECE 2000 ⇔ ECE 2001 + ECE 2011
  • ECE 2060 ⇔ ECE 3060
  • ECE 3910 ⇔ MATH 3470
  • ISE 3920 + ECE 4960 + ECE 4970 ⇔ ECE 4910 + ECE 4961 + ECE 4971
  • MATH 2010 (2 hours) + MATH 2011 (1 hour) [Spring 2012 and before] ⇔ MATH 2010 (3 hours) [after Spring 2012]

EE Only:

  • (none)

CmpE Only:

  • Note: In the CmpE Fall 2009 curriculum CEE 2100 is neither required nor allowed as an elective
  • CSC 4200 → CSC 3402

Older Substitutions

The following are older substitutions which are unlikely to be used but are still in effect.

All (EE and CmpE):

  • ECE 4990-001 (Fall 2010 only) → either ECE 3520 or ECE 4510
  • ECE 4960 + ECE 4970 → ECE 4910 + ECE 4941 + ECE 4942
  • ECE 2110 ⇔ ECE 3110
  • CEE 2110, ISE 3100, or ME 3210 → CEE 2100

EE Only:

  • ENGR 1120 + ENGR 2121 ⇔ CSC 2100
  • CSC 2010 + CSC 2011 → CSC 2100 (note: one extra hour)
  • CSC 2010 + CSC 2011 → ENGR 1120 + ENGR 2121 (note: one extra hour)

CmpE Only:

  • CSC 2010 + CSC 2011 + CSC 2020 + CSC 2021 + CSC 2300 ⇔ CSC 2100 + CSC 2110 + CSC 2111 + CSC 2120 + CSC 2121
