Tennessee Tech's Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers two solid undergraduate programs that emphasize the fundamentals of electrical and computer engineering and enable graduates to enter the workforce with confidence. Programs are offered which lead to Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Engineering (B.S.Cmp.E.) and Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.), as well as a Mechatronics Concentration in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E. - Mechatronics Concentration). Both degree programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The discipline is divided into several areas within ECE.
With about 430 undergraduate students, the department is one of the largest in the College of Engineering. Here is enrollment and graduation data. All 15 faculty members hold doctorates, and one has a joint appointment in one of three Centers of Excellence. These centers have brought the university international recognition and provide unique opportunities for electrical and computer engineering undergraduates to participate in center-related projects.
Students from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering are known throughout the Southeast for their enthusiastic participation in professional organizations and events. The student chapter of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is one of the most active student organizations on campus. It offers a multitude of activities, social and professional, and successfully competes with other universities in the professional and technical contests offered through the IEEE Southeastern Conference held each year. Officers in the IEEE student chapter and Eta Kappa Nu, an honor society for electrical engineering students, develop leadership and communication skills invaluable in today's job market. The department takes pride in producing well-rounded, professionally competent graduates.
The TTU BSEE and BSCmpE programs are guided by a set of Program Objectives and Outcomes which specify the overall goals of the program and the specific knowledge and abilities students will have obtained by the time of graduation.
