EMT-Basic/IV
This class, composed of both classroom and clinical experience, follows the 1994 DOT curriculum for basic EMTs, the 1985 DOT curriculum for intermediate level EMTs and the Tennessee Division of EMS standards. Successful completion of this course allows the participant to sit for the National Registry EMT-Basic written exam. Upon passing that exam the student will be eligible for licensure by the State of Tennessee Division of EMS as an EMT-IV.
Lecture hours: 195 hours: Class meets Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Course starts October 4, 2011 and ends June 19, 2012.
Clinical hours: 96 hours divided into 48 hours in the hospital setting and 48 hours in the ambulance setting. Clinical hours are scheduled based on student's availability.
Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age or older, academic high school diploma or GED, shall not have been convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor, shall have a valid driver's license and have a current BLS Healthcare Provider Card (go to that page to get details of how to obtain that card)
Tuition: $1095.00 Fee includes the State of Tennessee skills manual but does not include textbooks, liability insurance, clinical uniform, TTU parking permit and student photo ID, or testing fees. The fee for this course must be paid at registration.

All classes are held in the Jere Whitson Building on the quadrangle in room 131H.

Step 2 - Requirements
- Must be 18-years old.
- Hold an academic high school diploma or GED.
- Specialized education or Certificates of Attendance are not allowed.
- Current as a BLS Healthcare Provider
