Emergency Medical Technician
There are several changes from the State of TN Office of EMS. The State will be licensing at 3 levels. Those are EMT, Advanced EMT and Paramedic. TTU will start teaching each of those levels using the new curriculum in 2014. We will start with the EMT course in August of 2014. The Advanced EMT will be a separate course and offered after the completion of the EMT course. If the intention is to work for an Ambulance Service it will be necessary to take both EMT and Advanced EMT. The EMT course no longer has IV as a part of the course. IV has been moved into the Advanced EMT level.
Start Date: August 5, 2014.
Ending Date: December 18, 2014.
Lecture hours: Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Clinical hours: Minimum of 12 hours in a Hospital Emergency Department and minimum of 48 hours at various Ambulance Services, Dates to be scheduled with the clinical coordinator.
Prerequisites: Must be 18 years of age or older, academic high school diploma or GED, shall not have been convicted of a felony or Clas A or B misdemeanor, shall have a valid driver's license and complete clinical packet. A clinical packet will need to be picked up on or after May 1, 2014. The packet will need to be completed and must be brought with you the first night of class.
Tuition: $1400.00. Fee is for THIS course only. Fee includes 1 clinical shirt, liability insurance and BLS card but does not include textbooks, rest of the clinical uniform, TTU parking permit , student photo ID, testing fees, any cost for immunization shots, cost of background check or drug screen. The fee for this course must be paid at registration.
All classes are held in the Jere Whitson Building on the quadrangle of TTU in room JW131H. However, this location may change so confirm the location before the first night of class.

Payment must be made at time of registration. Check or money order may be mailed to the address below. However, payment by credit card must be made in person. We will not accept credit cards by mail or by telephone.
Registration Starting Date: June 9, 2014
Registration Deadline: June 27, 2014 or until class is full. There are 25 slots.

Step 2 - Requirements
- Must be 18-years old.
- Hold an academic high school diploma or GED.
- Special education diploma or Certificates of Attendance are not allowed.
- Completed clinical packet and brought to the first night of the course.
