COMPONENTS

Summer Bridge Program

ECAP students begin their college experience with a one-week summer orientation program involving workshops and seminars on study skills (e.g., math, chemistry, physics) along with building relationships and habits of successful students. Participants tour research centers of excellence and area industries. Recreational activities are included

Freshman Experience

Freshman engineering students typically complete introductory engineering courses, mathematics, chemistry, and others. They also lean about the different engineering, computer science and engineering technology disciplines. This is a time when students learn to participate in group learning, connect with other students and grasp the professional aspect of career opportunities.

Peer Mentoring

As part of ECAP, participants are paired with a student mentor who can help guide students through the first year.

Apprenticeship Programs

ECAP students will have the opportunity to travel the world on study abroad trips, learn hands-on skills through internships and cooperative education, and participate in exciting research projects. The College of Engineering will assist you in this summer learning experience.

Ongoing Student Support

As part of the ECAP program, students have a place to seek help and support. Our staff will be available to answer questions and give guidance.

Graduate School or Career Choice Assistance

Whenever graduation approaches for ECAP participants, the College of Engineering will help connect you with potential employers and graduate schools. The college will provide assistance with applications, and help you choose the best place to apply your talents and abilities.
