Welcome to Exercise Science, Physical Education and Wellness. We are fortunate to be housed in a campus historical site (Memorial Gym). We are pleased to offer a campus-wide physical activity program. Additionally, we offer a growing graduate program and a nationally accredited undergraduate programs. Our department has served the regional demand for teachers and coaches over the past 80 years. EXPW has recently expanded to afford greater professional opportunities to students interested in other aspects of the field as well (e.g., allied health, medicine and fitness). Our department consists of a National Board Certified Teacher in Physical Education (1 of 4 in Tennessee), the regional director for Area 9 Special Olympics and a research associate for an Olympic and Paralympic Training Center. We believe you will have quality professional opportunities in the field upon graudation, due to the quality of our faculty and their investment in students. As a testament to student success, EXPW students have benefitted from excellent placement rates into professional fields as teachers, coaches, corporate wellness directors, strength and conditioning coaches and recreation programmers. The broad scope of such degree programs has also resulted in excellent placements into professional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physician Assistant programs.
We want students to be successful toward their personal and professional goals. We gladly welcome you to the department.
