Profile of Students, Fall 2006
The Fall 2006 enrollment of 9,733 includes 7,569 undergraduate students and
2,164 graduate students. Among the new students are 1,527 freshmen, 672 undergraduate transfer students,
and 701 graduate students. Fifty-two percent of the students are females. Approximately 8.2 percent are
from racial or ethnic minority groups. Ninety-seven percent are United States citizens, representing 43 states,
while 281 are resident or nonresident aliens representing 61 foreign countries. Approximately 94 percent
of the students are from Tennessee. Enrollment by curricular unit and academic level is displayed in the
