| Incoming 2004 Student Requirements
In addition to the general eligibility requirements,
a student must:
Be admitted and enrolled in an eligible postsecondary institution
the Fall semester immediately following:
- Completion of high school in a Tennessee home school program
If a student graduated from an eligible
Tennessee high school in Dec, 2003 or May 2004, a student must:
- Achieve a final overall unweighted grade point average of at
least 3.0
OR
- Attain a composite ACT score of at least 21 on any single ACT
test date or a combined SAT score of at least 980 on any single
SAT test date
If a student graduated from an ineligible
Tennessee high school or completed high school a
Tennessee home school program, a student must:
- Attain a composite ACT score of at least 21 on any single ACT
test date or a combined SAT score of at least 980 on any single
SAT test date
If a student obtained a GED, a student is required to:
- Pass the GED tests with an average score of at least 525
- Attain a composite ACT score of at least 21 on any single ACT
test date
OR
- Attain a combined SAT score of at least 980 on any single SAT
test date
Military Exception
A student entering active duty in the United States Armed Services
within two years after:
- graduating from a Tennessee high school,
- completing high school in a Tennessee home school program,
or
- obtaining a GED
Who otherwise meets the requirements defined
above may also apply for a TELS award if the student:
- Applies within seven years of the student’s date of entry
into military service, or within one year of the student’s
honorable discharge from military service, whichever comes first
AND
- After graduation, did not attend a postsecondary institution
prior to entering military service.
