| How
to Apply for Lottery Scholarships
Step 1
Apply with the Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) or renewal FAFSA starting Jan 1, for each academic
year. www.FAFSA.ed.gov
Step 2
Be sure to include the TTU school code which
is 003523. This places the student’s name on the
TTU roster with the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC).
HOPE money will only be awarded to students on the TTU roster.
FAFSA applications filed and processed by the US Dept. of Education
on or before May 1, will be given priority in determining awards.
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure
that the FAFSA is submitted by the priority deadline with the
TTU school code.
Regardless of the student’s income, he/she
is required to complete the FAFSA each academic year in order
to receive a TELS award.
If the student qualifies for the Need Based Supplemental Award,
be prepared to supply the following documents to Financial Aid:
- A signed copy of the parents’ tax form
- A signed copy of the students’ tax form
- Cash Statement (forms are available in Financial Aid)
TTU also may ask the student to sign the following forms:
- Student Independent/Dependent Verification Form
- Non-filers statement (if student did not file taxes)
If the student is only interested in the general
HOPE scholarship and does not want to be considered for any other
financial aid, he/she does not have to supply these documents.
The student does need to send a signed statement to TTU stating
this so Financial Aid can process the HOPE scholarship.
