Health Fair FAQs

Q: Who can attend the Health Fair?

All students, current and retired faculty and staff, alumni, and dependents of these groups are eligible to participate and are encouraged to attend!

Q: What will be offered at the Health Fair?

Groups that have participated in 2007 have included: Komen for the Cure provided information about breast cancer; chiropractors have done foot imbalance screenings; Cookeville Regional Medical Center has always provided blood chemistries and vascular screening, TN Army National Guard's booth has addressed Meth Awareness, TTU's Food, Nutrition, Dietetics Club has addressed Diet and Blood Values, and several groups will be taking blood pressures.

Q: Are there any costs involved?

The only cost you pay is for the optional blood and vascular screening. For prices, click here.

Q: Will the Fitness Center be open during this event?

The Fitness Center will be open during regular operating hours, (Tuesday, 6 A.M. to 11:00 P.M.). Both gyms will be closed, although, from Noon on Monday, April 7 to approximately 5:30 PM on Tuesday, April 10. The weight room, cardiovascular area, pool, and track will still be available.

Q: How long should I expect to be at the Health Fair?

Depending on your interests and the number of booths you choose to visit, the Health Fair could take from 30 minutes to 2 hours to go through.

Q: Can I set up a booth at the Health Fair?

If your group or organization is interested in providing health information in a fun and interactive way to the TTU campus community, please call 372-6511 or 372-6210.

Q: Can students participate?

YES! TTU students are strongly encouraged to attend the Health Fair! In fact, many of the booths target the student population and there are special door prizes that will be offered just for students! Some teachers have even agreed to give extra credit for attending this event!
Again this year TTU students, 18 years and older, are being offered the chance to have a lipid profile done for FREE! If you interested in this service, you should call 372-6511 for an appointment and further instructions.

Q. What prizes are available for students and others and how do I become eligible for these?

The Fitness Center will be giving out special prizes just for students! Each student will be given a student participation form upon entering the Health Fair. To be eligible to win a prize, the participation form must be filled out. This can be accomplished by visiting the 6 designated exhibitor booths and 6 booths of your choice and having the exhibitor initial your paper. Once your form is completed, simply fold it up and drop it in the "Student Only Door Prize Box."

Prizes for other participants are being provided by Health Fair Exhibitors. To be eligible for these prizes, you need to visit the Exhibitor's booths in both gyms and sign up for prizes there. Enter as many times as you like and at as many Exhibitor's booths as you like.

Prize winners will be drawn at 4:45 PM on Tuesday, April 8, in the lobby of the Fitness Center. Winners will be posted outside the Fitness Center's main office, and each winner will be called by Wednesday, April 9. You DO NOT have to be present to win. The deadline to claim all prizes is 5:00 PM on Monday, April 14.
