Job Descriptions
Campus Rec has many jobs that are filled by dependable,
outgoing and enthusiastic students just like you. If there is a
postion you might like, check the Available
Positions.
Any questions concerning employment in the Fitness Center
should be directed to 372-6211, Health Promotion positions need
to be directed to 372-6210, and the Intramurals Program employment
information is available by calling 372-6024. Students who have
work study or scholarship assignments and want to be assigned to
Campus Rec should contact us prior to the beginning of the semester
at 372-6211.
For Undergraduate Students
Building Monitor - is responsible for surveying the building and taking care of any problems as they arise, cleaning equipment, restocking towels, enforcing Fitness Center policies, and helping in any area as directed by the supervisor. Shifts: Monday - Sunday, early afternoon to close
Child Care - is responsible for occupying
and keeping safe Campus Rec's and their guest's children, age 3
- 12 years. Children are kept in TV Lounge, racquetball or basketball
courts, and/or concessions area. Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 5:00
- 7:00 p.m.
Equipment Room - is responsible for checking in and out all equipment: racquetballs and racquets, basketballs, boxing gloves, lap counters, towels, etc. and facility cleaning. Shifts: Monday - Sunday, late morning to close
Fitness Counselor - assists students and members with equipment orientation, designs exercise programs, performs fitness tests, blood pressure checks and body fat analysis. Shifts: Monday - Friday, hours vary
Fitness Instructor - is responsible for leading a safe, effective group fitness class. A passion for fitness and a willingness to help others achieve their fitness goals is required. Training can be provided. Shifts: days and hours vary
Front Desk - is responsible for greeting everyone that enters the building, checking Eagle cards and membership cards, making racquetball and wallyball court reservations, fitness class registration, operating cash register and facility cleaning. Shifts: Monday - Sunday, open to close
Intramurals Office Staff - is responsible
for day-to-day clerical duties, answering phones, assisting the
coordinator as needed. They work closely with the Intramurals Graduate
assistants.
Intramurals Referees - are responsible
for officiating recreational events planned by the IM department
and assisting the supervisor as needed. Training is provided for
each sport. Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 5:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Intramurals Scorekeepers - are responsible
for keeping time and scores at recreational events and assisting
the supervisor as needed. Training is provided. Shifts: Monday -
Thursday, 5:00 - 11:00 p.m.
Intramurals Supervisor - is responsible
for maintaining order, safety, and payroll records during events
and other related duties as needed. Shifts: Monday - Thursday, 5:00
- 11:00 p.m.
Lifeguard - is responsible for providing
a safe environment for swimmers, water fitness classes and swim
lesson participants. Lifeguards must be certified by a nationally
recognized organization, (Red Cross, YMCA) Shifts: Monday - Friday
- 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., Saturday - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Sunday
- 1:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Main Office - is responsible for
answering phones, processing memberships, locker rentals, and punch
cards. A student who works here must be able to multi-task, take
direction from all full time staff, and pay attention to details.
Summer employment may involve Cheer / Dance Camp. Dress is professional
- casual. Shifts: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Swim Instructor - is responsible for teaching people age 3 to adult to swim. Group and private lessons are available through the Aquatics Program. Swim Instructors must be able to swim and must like children. Providing a safe environment is a must. Shifts: vary with semester.
Trouble Shooter - is responsible for performing routine jobs, assisting with special projects, and cleaning. Shifts: Monday - Sunday, early evening to close
Weight Room Monitor - is responsible for monitoring the weight room for safety issues and correcting them, spotting students and members when asked and cleaning weight equipment. Shifts: Monday - Sunday open - close
For Professionals
Campus Recreation has 12 full time staff: Director,
Assistant Director, Coordinator of Health Promotions,Intramurals,and Cheerleading,
Office Manager, 2 Account Clerks Day time Supervisor, and 3 Custodians.
