Joe L. Evins Appalachian Center for Crafts The Joe L. Evins Appalachian Center for Crafts is a unique crafts, art/crafts facility located on 550 acres of woodland, overlooking Center Hill Lake in Middle Tennessee--approximately twenty miles from the Tennessee Tech University campus. The academic programs of the Appalachian Center for Crafts are under the supervision of the Department of Music and Art. The Center offers curricula toward a B.F.A. degree. Other programs available in all the craft areas include Apprenticeship, Residency and Emerging Professional Artist Programs. Students currently earning graduate credit are enrolled in Curriculum or as Nondegree Graduate (NDGR) students. Graduate credit is earned only for those courses that carry either a 500 or 600 numerical identification. The faculty are acknowledged professionals, fully committed to their work as teachers and artists. In a community setting, they provide studio and academic experiences for student artists in the five major craft divisions--ceramics, fibers, glass, metal, and wood. Additional information is available from the Director, Appalachian Center for Crafts, Box 430, Smithville, TN 37166. Page last updated: 7/30/04 |
