Use of American History (HIST 2010 and 2020) by Engineering Majors
For Students Currently enrolled in
a BS degree in an engineering program (including Basic Engineering)
at Tech and who are following the 128-hour degree requirements
and the new General Education Requirements. This does not include
Industrial Technology majors.
Action:
1. Students who have earned credit for HIST 2010
BY the end of the 2003 fall semester, may use it to count as
a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or a "Social/
Behavioral Science" course.
2. Students who have earned credit for HIST 2020
BY the end of the 2003 fall semester, may use it to count as
a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or a "Social/
Behavioral Science" course.
3. Students, who earn credit for HIST 2010 or HIST
2020 AFTER the end of the 2003 fall semester, may not use the
course as a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or as
a "Social/ Behavioral Science" course.
Students transferring
from a Tennessee institute into a BS degree in an
engineering program (including Basic Engineering) and who are
following the 128-hour degree requirements and the new General
Education Requirements.
Action:
1. Students who have earned credit for HIST 2010
BY the end of the 2004 spring semester, may use it to count as
a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or a "Social/
Behavioral Science" course.
2. Students who have earned credit for HIST 2020
BY the end of the 2004 spring semester, may use it to count as
a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or a "Social/
Behavioral Science" course.
3. Students, who earn credit for HIST 2010 or HIST
2020 AFTER the end of the 2004 spring semester, may not use the
course as a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or as
a "Social/ Behavioral Science" course.
Students transferring
from another degree program at Tech into a BS degree
in an engineering program AFTER the end of the 2003 fall semester
and who are following the 128-hour degree requirements and
the new General Education Requirements.
Students transferring from an institute
outside of Tennessee into a BS degree in an engineering
program AFTER the end of the 2003 fall semester and who are
following the 128-hour degree requirements and the new General
Education Requirements.
Action:
Students may NOT use HIST 2010 or HIST 2020 as
a "Humanities and Fine Arts" course or as a "Social/
Behavioral Science" course.
