Educational Psychology & Counselor Education

The Master of Arts and Specialist in Education degree in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education at Tennessee Tech provide an understanding of such educational and counseling processes as therapeutic techniques and ethical/legal implications. Students may choose among five areas of study:

  • Agency Counselor
  • Educational Psychology
  • Mental Health Counseling (M.A. only)
  • School Counselor
  • School Psychology

M.A. Admission Requirements:

  • Satisfactory test scores on either the Miller Analogies Test (372 minimum for provisional standing and 380 minimum for full standing) or the General Record Exam (900 total on the verbal/quantitative portions and 4.0 on the analytical writing portion)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts from your bachelor's institution and any institutions attended since that degree
  • Grade Point Average on Bachelor's degree of at least 2.5

Ed.S. Admission Requirements:

  • Satisfactory test scores on either the Miller Analogies Test (380 minimum for provisional standing and 388 minimum for full standing) or the General Record Exam (900 total on the verbal/quantitative portions and 4.0 on the analytical writing portion)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts from your bachelor's and master's institutions and any institutions attended since those degrees
  • Grade Point Average on Master's degree of at least 3.0
