Kappa Delta

Kappa Delta was founded in Farmville, Virginia in 1897, and the Delta Upsilon Chapter was installed at Tennessee Tech on September 27, 1969. Today, Kappa Delta has a growing sisterhood of more than 150,000 members and at least 150 active chapters.

Philanthropy is also a very important aspect of Kappa Delta sorority. They have three national philanthropies: the Children's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia, the National Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse and the Girl Scouts of America. The Shamrock Project, a children's fair and sea-saw-a-thon held in March, and KD Klassic, a golf tournament held in the fall, are two of Kappa Delta's largest fund-raisers each year to benefit these philanthropies.

In addition to these nationally sponsored philanthropies, Delta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Delta is very involved in supporting several local philanthropies by tutoring in and after school Teens-Need-Training Program, by serving meals at the Genesis House, and by donating teddy bears to the Cookeville Police Department for distribution to children.
