NPHC INTAKE
The recruitment period of the all the NPHC organizations is open
throughout the school year. The minimum grade point average required
by Tennessee Tech is 2.0, though most NPHC organizations require at least a 2.3
to become a member.
The intake process is determined by each sorority/fraternity.
Interest meetings are held by each organization. These
meetings provide information about the organization,
application fees, and answer questions the aspirant (potential member)
might have. The meetings are generally advertised by posters, flyers,
mass e-mail, and word of mouth. In order to legally obtain membership
in the Fraternity/Sorority of choice the potential member should
be aware of these aspects:
- Each organization should ask for an official transcript of each
aspirant.
- Each organization should have a regional/state director present
at the informational meeting.
- Present a anti-hazing form for the aspirant to sign before any
meeting other than an informational is held.
- Each organization should have each aspirant to sign the grade release form for the Office of Greek Life.
If any of the above do not occur, it is important you contact the Office of Greek Life. Though very rare, illegal
recruitment, also known as "Renegade intake" can occur. This can result
in the expulsion of the organization, members, and the aspirant
involved in the illegal intake.
