Sigma
Phi Epsilon
Sigma Phi Epsilon, or Sig Ep for short, was founded
in 1901 on the campus of Richmond College in Richmond Virginia by
six close friends who strove to meet the high principles of virtue,
diligence, and brotherly love. Sig Ep is now the largest fraternity
with 270 chapters in the United States. Some of our alumni include
Orel Hershiser of the Cleveland Indians, John Goodman of the television
show Roseanne, Dave Thomas of Wendy's, with our most famous being
Theodor S. "Dr. Seuss" Giesel.
Sigma Phi Epsilon was restarted on TTU campus in the Fall of 1996. Since
that time the chapter has been working diligently in the Balanced
Man Project. As a national organization, Sigma Phi Epsilon began
the Balanced Man Project in 1995 as a means to get rid of the unsavory
by-products of a pledging system. The Balanced Man project is designed
to help members grow into better men by teaching them how to be
better leaders, encouraging social skills, and building up a sense
of responsibility toward the organization.
Since Sigma Phi Epsilon
does not have a pledge program, they are able to have year round
recruitment which allows people to join the fraternity at anytime
during the year.
