Pre-Occupational Therapy Pre-Professional Program
Most of the professional programs in Tennessee now offer a Masters degree in Occupational Therapy and one offers a Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree. Some of these require a B.S. degree prior to admission and others will accept students into their program after three years of undergraduate work. All have a list of specific courses that must be completed prior to admission, which include anatomy, and physiology and statistics. Other courses requirements or recommendations that vary with the school, are psychology, computer literacy, freshman English, speech, social science, humanities, freshman chemistry, freshman biology, physics and medical terminology. Some programs also require the Graduate Records Exam (GRE) and 30-50 hours of work experience in an occupational therapy setting. Having already earned a B.S. degree makes a student more competitive in the application pool in any of these situations.
