Quick Info

ATTENTION ALL NEW INCOMING STUDENTS LIVING IN ON-CAMPUS HOUSING:

Effective July 1, 2013, all new incoming students at any public institution of higher learning in Tennessee who are under 22 years of age and are living in on-campus housing are required to produce proof of adequate immunization against meningococcal disease (meningitis). A copy of the law may be found here: http://www.tn.gov/sos/acts/108/pub/pc0114.pdf

You must submit proof of adequate immunization before you will be allowed to live in campus housing if you are under 22 years of age. Adequate proof consists of documentation from a health care provider showing a single dose of conjugate vaccine (MVC4) given on or after the 16th birthday. If your initial vaccine for meningitis was given prior to the age of 16 years, immunization requirements will not be met unless an additional booster vaccine is given after your 16th birthday. Booster doses are recommended for high risk for infection. Please note you will not be allowed to move into on-campus housing if we do not have documentation of you receiving the meningitis vaccine.
