Economic Stimulus Act Provides $16.8 Billion for EERE Programs
On February 17, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This measure includes $16.8 billion for the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). The funding is nearly a tenfold increase for EERE and will support direct grants and rebates to consumers and applied research, development, and deployment of existing and emerging energy saving technologies.

The Industrial Assessment Centers are an EERE program designed to train the next generation of energy management professionals while assisting small and medium sized manufacturers improve their energy efficiency.

The State Energy Program of the EERE provides grants to states’ energy offices to address their energy priorities and program funding to adopt emerging renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The ARRA designates $3.1 billion of EERE funds to the State Energy Program.
