How to create an FAQ Category :

  1. From your main course page, click on FAQ on your top navigation bar.
  2. Click on the Admin link. You will be taken to the admin FAQ page.
  3. To create a new category, click on the New Category button at the bottom right-hand corner of the page. A window will open with fields titled Category Name and Description.
  4. Beside Category Name , enter the name of the category of FAQ's. A good category name will allow visitors to understand the general topic of that category. For example, the category 'Login Information' contains all FAQ's related to login questions.
  5. Description is the text that will appear below Category Name on the main FAQ page and on the top of the category's page. Beside Description , enter a brief paragraph describing the category and FAQ's within it. For example, under the category 'Login Information', you may include a description that defines what is required for a correct login. You may also include a picture beside your description by inserting the appropriate HTML code into the Description text box.
  6. Once you have entered the required information, click on the Create Category button on the bottom right-hand side of the window.

How to Delete an Existing FAQ Category:

If you delete a category, you delete the questions that are part of that category.

  1. On the FAQ admin page, click on the Edit icon to the left of the category name.
  2. To delete a category, click on the Delete icon to the right of the category name.

Note: Deleting a category will also delete all the FAQ's within the category.

How to Edit Existing FAQ Categories:

You can change existing category names and descriptions.

  1. On the FAQ admin page, click on the Edit icon to the left of the category name. A window will appear containing the current category name and description.
  2. Make the required changes and click Save Changes .

How to Change the Order of FAQ Categories:

  1. Go to the FAQ admin page.
  2. If you would like to change the order in which the categories are listed, simply enter the appropriate numbers beside the categories.
  3. When finished, click on the Save Order button.
  4. When you are finished adding and editing categories, click on the Back button to go to the main FAQ display page.

How to Create an FAQ Question :

  1. To add a new FAQ from the admin page, click on the New Question button at the bottom right-hand side of the page (if you have many FAQ's, you will need to scroll down to the end of the page). A new window will appear with fields for Category, Question, and Answer.
  2. Beside Category , select the category to which the FAQ belongs from the drop-down menu.
  3. Beside Question , enter the text for the question. If you would like to format your question, simply include the appropriate HTML tags. By default, questions appear in bolded text.
  4. Beside Answer , enter the answers for the question. To format the text, simply include the appropriate HTML tags.
  5. When you are finished creating your new question and answer, click on Create Question at the bottom right-hand side of the window

How to Edit an Existing FAQ Question:

  1. From the FAQ admin page, click on the Edit icon located to the right of the desired FAQ. A window will appear similar to that for creating a new question. Here you will see the text for the current question and its corresponding answer.
  2. Edit the desired text.
  3. When you are finished, click on the Save Changes button.

How to Delete an Existing FAQ :

  1. Go to the FAQ admin page.
  2. To delete a question, click on the Delete icon located to the right of the FAQ.

Student View of your tool or course

If you would like to view what your course or tools look like in the eyes of a student, you can do so using the Role Switch tool from the Course Home. By changing your role to "Student" you can navigate your class and see the course as a student would. Please note that under the student role you will be unable to view the gradebook, take quizzes, or view any items with conditional releases. Once you are finished using the student role, you can switch back to your instructor role by going back to the role switch tool in the Course Home and selecting "My Default Role."
